Maurice Martin

On Friday November 30, 2018, in his 82 year,

Maurice left us to go have a beer with his two late sons Brian and Michael.  Moe leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years Carole, and his daughter Beth (favourite son-in-law John Tatasciore). Maurice is very sad to leave behind his amazing grandchildren Jesse (fiancé Gabby Beck) Jacob, Grace and Michael. Maurice was son of the late Rae and Jack Martin and son-in-law of the late Doris and Victor Rutledge. Maurice grew up in a family of 6 brothers and sisters. He leaves behind his only remaining brother Tom Martin. Moe is predeceased by his sisters Bette (Garnet Mathison), Kay (the late Ray Yukich), Marion (the late Paul Armesto) and the late John (Bernie Bell). Moe is survived by his sister-in-law Valerie (his partner in crime John McLeod).

Moe will be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law Chrissy Thain (Rob) and his many nephews and nieces. In his healthier years Moe was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved to hunt, fish, snowmachine, and go boating.  Maurice touched the lives of many people from the hockey rinks, baseball fields, hunting on Manitoulin Island, living at the Pointe, working at ADSB, curling at Tarentorus and coaching at SMHA.

As Maurice neared the end of his life, he was deeply grateful for all of the caring support from the loving and compassionate nurses at the SAH Cancer Clinic. They were always amazing and kind helping Moe through his journey. Also, he was happy to have the wonderful support from the nurses and PSW workers whom came to his home to help him in his final month.

At Maurice’s request there will be no funeral service.  Maurice always cherished being with friends and family. Please join the family for a come and go drink at Boots and Saddles Roadhouse (2667 Second Line W) on Sunday December 16, 2018 from 1-5 pm to celebrate and remember all of the good times with Maurice.  Memorial donations can be made to the SAH Cancer clinic and ARCH. (Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St. Sault Ste. Marie 705-759-8456)
