James J. Mackan passed away peacefully at the Van Daele Manor, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Mary Catherine (Kay) for 55 years. Loving father of Jim Jr. (Susan), Brian (Maureen) of Kimberley, B.C., Michael, Karen Berto (Larry), Shelley Buzanko (Bill), David (Kerry), Patrick, Philip (Pam), Maureen Montanini (Paul), Francis (Fiancé Aimee) of Burlington, Ontario and the late Mary (infant). Special Poppa to 23 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Dear brother of William, Thomas, Paul (Saralee), Sheila Land (John) and the late Kevin (Mac), Gordon (Rita), Rev. Father Patrick, C.R., Mary Holmes and Margaret. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. "Gentleman Jim" will be fondly remembered by the many people along his bus routes. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, January 31, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Jerome's Church on Saturday, February 1, at 10 am. Rev Hamish Currie officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Society or Van Daele Residents Council would be appreciated by the family.
