LUMLEY, Julienne (nee Lavergne)

At Golden Birches Terrace, in Blind River on Monday October 3, 2022, at the age of 94.

Survived by her loving husband Edward ‘Ted”.

Julie was a true pioneer. She was born February 10, 1928, in a bush camp. Her mother was the cook, and her dad was one of the crew of cutters. They were snowed in until the spring breakup, so she was almost 3 months old before they could have her checked by a doctor.

As she grew old, she became seamstress of the family, making and altering her siblings’ clothes. This talent continued for the rest of her life. She created wedding gowns for young brides, worked with a furrier, altering fur coats for his customers, and even made the habits for most of the nuns in Sudbury.

Her hobbies were making hand stitched quilts, knitting, embroidery and crocheting. Anything to do with thread, needles, yarn and material. About 10 years ago, we purchased a beautiful Goldwing motorcycle. She loved it! She was still riding when we sold it last year, at the age of 93.

Her infectious smile will be remembered by all who knew her.

Thank you to the nurses, PSW’s and staff at Golden Birches Terrace for the exceptional care that they gave Julienne.

In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated and may be made payable to or online to the Matthews Memorial Hospital Association (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/mmha-matthews-memorial-hospital-association).
