Lavine passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Matthews Memorial Hospital in Richards Landing, aged 81, in the presence of a dear friend.

Predeceased by her husband Fred, Lavine is survived by her daughter Anne  (Larry), and sons John (Alice), Mike, and Dave (Theresa). She cherished her four grandchildren and a new great-grand-daughter, whom she was able to meet via the modern miracle of video chat. She has a brother, Wayne.

Lavine’s friends in Desbarats, Richards Landing, and all over the Island and the North Shore were her strength over the years, especially after the rest of us moved from the area.

Her faith was strong, and she enjoyed working with her UCW and WI teammates to make her community a better place to live. Thanks to all the ladies who were, and are, her sisters over the years. As church organist, Lavine was involved in the lives of many people — weddings, christenings, choir practice, funerals.

Born in Hamilton, Lavine left high school early. That motivated her to finish her diploma as an adult, at CASS in Desbarats. She was proud of that, and we were proud of her for doing it, even if going to school with your mother was a bit odd. She became a book-keeper and office manager. Keeping busy kept her going.

Family and friends may visit at Harmony St. Marks Church, Richards Landing on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 2 pm until time of Memorial Service at 3 pm.  Rev. Faye Stevens officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice (payable by cheque). After a long series of health issues, Mom had a lot of experience with the cardiac care and cancer treatment teams over the years. Thanks to all the nurses, doctors, personal care workers and others who helped make her life more comfortable. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522)

We’re going to miss her.
