LESLIE, Wayne

(August 25, 1945-March 19, 2018) - With heavy hearts, our family wishes to announce the unexpected passing of our beloved dad, grandfather and great-grandfather, in Thailand on Monday March 19, 2018 in his 73th year.  Wayne was the loving husband of the late Cathy (nee Needs), and more recently of Thongsamood Akak.  Cherished father of Cheryl Rowat (Brian), Connie Hornblower (Rick) and Jody Rowat (Glen).  Treasured grandfather of Adrienne, Holly and Nathan, Joseph (Angela), Jeffery (Cara), Bethany (Josh), and Lindsey, Alyssa (Sam) and Josh (Lexi).  Adored great-grandfather of Isabel and Elijah, Bella, Amelia and Hudson.  Son of the late Edward and Metta Leslie, brother to the late Helen Brown, Eunice Spooner, Shirley Tulloch and Katrina Thelland. Wayne is survived by his brother Ken Leslie (Esther).  Best of friends with Bruce & Lucie Hoffman and Rae Stanghetta.  Remembered by his nieces and nephews; and the many dear friends who were like family.  Wayne worked hard all his life and in 2001 he retired from Algoma Steel only to redirect his energy to his family and friends, and an exciting retirement abroad.  Wayne had a special relationship with each and every one of us which we treasured.  Friends are invited to a celebration of life/memorial service which will be held at the New Apostolic Church (51 Centre Street) on Saturday March 31, 2018 at 4pm.   Reverend Neil Jansen officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the New Apostolic Church Foreign Extension Fund  would be greatly appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to Damignani Burial, Cremation & Transfer Service (Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, 705-450-0969).
