It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of Tranquilla Laurenti (nee Frattolin) on Sunday, January 23, at the age of 92 . She passed away peacefully at the F.J. Davey Home with her children by her side.

Beloved wife of her late husband, Nello, and cherished mother of Fosco (Donna), Rosanne Stewart (Rod), Dario (Theresa) and Laura Adams (late Craig). Loving Nonna of Greg (Lauren), Daniel, Andrea Coughlin (James), Sarah Stewart (Jason Kozak), Ben Stewart, Skye Smith (Rod), Rachel (Mike Caruso), Matthew (Jordan), Adam, Rebecca, (late) Kaleb Adams and Emma Adams. Proud Bisnonna (Great Grandmother) of Scarlett, Lauren and Jamie, Ethan and Emmet, Holden and Rocky, Rayanna, Audra and Rory. Tranquilla is predeceased by her siblings Daniele (Italia), Giuseppe (Onorina), and Angelina Favret (Gino), Sister-in-law of Giuglio (Claudia), Alessandro, Teresina Muzzin (Meni) and Zeno, all predeceased. Survived by sister-in-laws Elsa and Delia. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends both in Canada and Italy.

Tranquilla was born in Bannia, province of Pordenone, Italy to parents Maria and Giuseppe Frattolin and immigrated to Canada when she was 20. Together she and Nello built a life of hard work, loving family and good friendships. As a young widow, Tranquilla continued to support her family, babysitting her many grandchildren through the years, offering countless words of wisdom. She loved being surrounded by her family, and cooked wonderful meals. Whether it was a simple potato soup for lunch or a grand feast of rabbit and polenta, it was always delicious and seasoned to perfection.

Her vegetable and flower gardens were her passion and she would spend many hours a day tending to them. She was also a dedicated volunteer of the Hospital Auxiliary for many, many years. A woman of strong faith, Tranquilla was an active member of the St. Gregory’s CWL and a member of the Ladies Rosary Group. She was also a member of the Elletra Marconi Society.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, personal support workers and other care staff that took care of Tranquilla throughout the years. We would  also like to thank the nurses and care workers on Birch Lane 2 at the Davey Home for the compassionate care and love shown for Tranquilla over the last three years.

Because of complications from Covid, a celebration of life will be held for Tranquilla when we can safely gather together. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Memorial contributions payable by cheque or online to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation or St. Gregory’s Church would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Laurenti family.
