It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Kari with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the age of 77.
Loving husband of 48 years to Bernice "Bernie" Kuisma (nee Michel). Cherished dad of Derek Kuisma (Heather) and Michele Brown (Michael). Proud papa of Emily, Lucas, Chloe and Benjamin. Predeceased by his parents Veikko and Eila Kuisma. Dear brother of Margo Kells (late Ernie) and Mark Kuisma. Son-in-law of the late Tony and late Evelyn Michel. Brother-in-law of Carole Strachan (late Peter), Norman Michel (Anna), Colette Michel-Fall (Rick), Mark Michel (Terri). Kari will be missed and fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Finland and Sault Ste. Marie.
Kari was born on November 3, 1945 in Finland, he moved to Canada in 1950 with his parents and was always proud of his background. He served in the Army from 1967 - 1972, including three years in Germany with NATO forces. Kari enjoyed all sports from his youth while he participated in gymnastics and football, his love continued as he was able to cheer on his favourite teams including his son's hockey games. Spending time in nature, whether it be hunting, fishing, camping or canoeing with family and dear friends was among some of his favourite things. He will be missed dearly.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Sault Area Hospital and the Toronto Medical Staff at (UHN) for your kindness and support during this time. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions to Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
