It is with great sadness we announce the passing of lifelong Soo resident Ellen Kozak. Ellen was born April 1, 1966 and left us far too soon in the early hours of Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Predeceased by her mother Marcia, father Fred and sister Wendy. Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her beloved big brother James Kozak (Lisa) and her sister Diana Kozak (Tim Balcombe). She will be fondly remembered by extended family members Robin, Eric and Brad also dear friend Mary Bingham.

Ellen struggled with health issues all her life and she met every hurdle with unmatched strength, determination and most of all hope. Her sense of humour and positive outlook made it easy for anyone fortunate enough to meet her to love her. You could try to beat her at a game of Gin if you dared. One of Ellen's greatest joys was sharing the unconditional love of a long list of pets and pretty much any cat or dog that crossed her path. Ellen jumped into every activity with gusto, an interest in photography found her snapping photos and learning to develop her own film. Ellen loved to eat and reacted to every shared meal as if it came from a five star restaurant. Even as Ellen's physical abilities waned her big heart and desire to please never wavered. Anyone that knew and loved Ellen was richer for the experience and her loss leaves us with a desire to live our own lives with a purpose and joy that honours her memory.

Please take a moment to remember our beautiful baby sister Ellen and please plan on joining us for a celebration of her life as soon as we're all able to gather.

I think Ellen would love if people made donations to the Humane Society in her name.  Her family would also appreciate if you would visit www.carenotprofits.ca to demand we make immediate changes to ensure our most vulnerable residents get the care they need.

Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. - 705-759-2522).  Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave memories and condolences as a keepsake for the family.
