It is with great sorrow and some relief that we announce the passing of Edward (Ed) Korab Jr. (“Edju”) at the age of 80 on September 22, 2022.

He passed peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH), surrounded by his family. Ed was the eldest son of the late Edward Sr. and late Julia (Dumanski) Korab. Ed has a huge extended family and is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Valli (Barban) for 56 years, his children Steve Korab (Mary), Lisa Korab (Ron Reymer), Joe Korab (Shelley) and his grandchildren Kellan (fiancee Megan), Dorian, Spencer, Kaleigh, Tyler, Kameron and Gabriella.  He will be dearly missed by his siblings and their partners within the Korab and Barban families.  His siblings include Joyce (Victor Vigna), Michael Korab (Julie), Jerry Korab (Mary Ann) and Teresa (Nick D'Addario).  Ed was also very close with Valli's brothers and their wives, late Ray Barban (Gertie), Carlo Barban (Marie), Reno Barban (late Lynda), late Gabriel Barban (Teresa Rose) and Bruno Barban (Marilyn).  There are so many nephews, nieces and cousins, too numerous to list, each of whom Ed loved dearly and all played a huge role in his life.

Ed was a salesman, educator, avid hockey fan, coach and manager.  He was a generous and loyal supporter of his extended family and friends as well as a pillar in his beloved community of Sault Ste. Marie. Most of all he was a kind, passionate, supportive and loving son, brother, friend, husband, father and grandfather.  (Eddie, Ed, Edju) had the best sense of humour and his numerous sayings and jokes will be remembered and recounted by his children and grandchildren forever. His presence will be greatly missed by many dear life-long friends who were like family to him.

Eddie, we love you and will always cherish the time we were blessed to share with you.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Precious Blood Cathedral at 11am on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 followed by mass at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations payable by cheque or online to ARCH or the SAH Foundation.  Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Korab family.
