KNIAHNICKI, Mark BIOa
Passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side after a brief illness at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the age of 72.  Devoted and much loved husband of the late Angel, and super-dad of Mark (Johanna).  Loving son of the late Stanley and Wanda Kniahnicki.  Cherished brother of Donald (Lillian), late Edward (Susan), late Tommy, late Henry and the late Bogdan.  Dear nephew of Irene Milas.  Son-in-law of the late Joseph and Lucy Scarfone.  Brother-in-law of Lucy (late Matt), and Joey (Debbie), fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Carissa (Matt), Ryan (Ange), Jeff (Tammy), Julie, Mary (Steve), Krista (Jon) and Olivia.  Loved and missed by the Scarfone family and Mantello Family.  Richard loved and lived for his family and friends.  He is remembered for his selflessness, generosity and willingness to put others first.  At the drop of a hat he was always willing to lend a hand, no matter how big or small the task.  Richard was an avid baseball and hockey fan, as well as a music and classic car enthusiast.  He always looked forward to attending concerts with his son Mark, as well as his annual baseball trips in Milwaukee with the boys.  He played an active role in Sault Major Hockey for over 40 years as part of the coaching/management staff for Soo Legion and the Soo Junior Greyhounds AAA Bantam organizations.  He especially enjoyed summer drives in the “vette” with Angel, as well as vacationing with her in Las Vegas and California.  Rick and Angel enjoyed many years of sunrises and sunsets together at Carpin Beach, where they always welcomed family and friends.  Thank you to all involved in Richard’s health care, and special thanks to the nurses at  Paramed for providing the means to allow Richard to stay at home comfortably for as long as possible.  Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Karen Booth, and all of the nurses, staff and volunteers at ARCH who made it possible for Richard to pass in a beautiful environment with dignity, grace and comfort.  Friends are invited to visit St. Jerome’s Catholic Church on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of memorial mass at 11:30 am.  Rev. Pat Woods officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to ARCH would be appreciated.  (Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel – 492 Wellington St. E. – 705-759-2522).
