December 2, 1934 – January 23, 2020

We are saddened to announce the quiet passing of our beloved father, August, in his 86th year, while at the Algoma Manor. Predeceased in 2001 by his cherished wife Elisabeth (nee Vogt). Gentle and loving father of Andreas (Darlene), Barbara Peplinski (Steve) and Birgit Jones (Corey). Caring Opa of August, Alyssa, Danielle, Ashley, Jack and Ben. Fondly remembered by his brother in law Hermann Vogt (Christel) and his sister in law Ilse Vogt (the late Gerhart) as well as many other relatives and friends in Germany. Forever missed by his companion Christel.

August wanted to provide better opportunities for his young family, so in 1982 he moved them from Germany to Canada. He and his wife bought a dairy farm in Bruce Mines and from there they devoted themselves to this demanding lifestyle. August successfully overcame many obstacles, including learning a new language, and adapting to a different culture. He met those challenges straight on and he and Elisabeth grew to become accomplished dairy farmers. He was also a gifted gardener who kept a large garden. His family was always well stocked and well fed with his fresh vegetables. His gentle spirit and kind heart will be forever missed by his family and those who knew him.

The family wishes to thank the kind and thoughtful nurses and staff at Algoma Manor. They’d also like to thank Dr. Muller for the care he gave our father.

At this time there are no services. Burial at Cloudslee Cemetery will be announced and held in Spring of 2020.
