On August 2, 2022, Hermann Kesten passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 95. Beloved husband of Edith for over 61 years. Caring and loving father of the late Andy, Stephanie and Susanne. Survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anni and Herbert. Predeceased by his parents, Hermann and Freda Kesten, as well as his siblings: Rosemari (Hans) and Kurt. Remembered by many nieces and nephews in Germany. Happy grandfather of many fur children.
Hermann came to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario from Germany with his wife and kids in 1965. He worked in the Tube Division at Algoma Steel, retiring at age 58. He was fondly remembered in the Tube Division as “Hermann the German”. Hermann had 94 years of a healthy life. He enjoyed many great times with his family, close friends, and neighbors. He relished the outdoors, fishing, cottage, fiddling around in the garage making wood bowls, digging in the garden or just simply watching and feeding the birds. His greatest joy was becoming a “snowbird” travelling to the Bahamas with Edith. Hermann experienced a few bumps along the way which included the death of his beloved son Andy at the young age of 21. Despite the challenges, 94 years were the best. We are not sad but very grateful and blessed that we were able to cherish those years with him.
We will deeply miss you and carry on without you, but we shall never forget you.
