INCH, Madra (Maidra) Doreen

Peacefully at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia Ontario on Saturday, October 9, 2021 in her 92nd year, with her son at her side.

Beloved wife of the late Ernest Grant Inch. Loving mother of Lois (Clayton) Driver of High River, Alberta, Bill (Cathy) Inch of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and Jack (Judy) Inch of Wyoming, Ontario. Grandmother to Laura Driver of Calgary, Matthew (Jenna) Inch of Sault Ste. Marie, Ian (Anne) Driver of Camrose, and Heather (Brent) Bouchard of Desbarats. Great Momma to Mason Wasylkiw, Levi Inch, Nora and Grant Bouchard, Thomas, June, Henry, James and Leo Driver.  Predeceased by her parents Charlie and Agnes Hunt. Cherished sister to Jim (Mary) Hunt and Leonard Hunt. Loving Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

For 85 years Maidra was a resident and proud contributor to the community of Rydal Bank. Maidra and Ernie married, operated a farm and devoted their lives to Agricultural and Horticultural advancement in the District of Algoma. Everyone knew Maidra’s love of flowers and her green thumb. Maidra was actively involved in both Agricultural and Horticultural Societies serving as President of the Agricultural Society of Ontario. Maidra and Ernie were always involved in community events in Rydal Bank and the surrounding area. Maidra was awarded the Canada 125 Medal for her contributions to her fellow citizens and community.

Following Ernie’s passing in 2002, Maidra moved to Petrolia Ontario to reside near her daughter and youngest son and carried on her love of gardening there. In her later years Maidra enjoyed her little Dachshund, reading a good mystery novel, a Sunday drive and the company of her family.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. 705-759-2522) on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 2 pm until 4 pm.  Interment to take place on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 11 am at Cloudslee Cemetery.  Mrs. Helen Smith officiating the graveside service.  Social distancing and masks are required.  Maidra would welcome your support to any Horticultural Society or the Humane Society (payable by cheque or online). Thank you to Dr. Mathers, Dr Buckton, everyone at Lambton Meadowview Villa and especially Finch Avenue staff who created a comfortable and caring environment for her. It was certainly welcome in her final days.
