Saturday, February 4th, 2023, in her 86th year, Rina received the gift of a peaceful passing at Extendicare Van Daele Manor.
Reunited with her beloved husband, the late Mario Iacoboni. Dear mother of Paride (Tammy) and Tina Giuliano (Anthony). Nonna of Marcus and Tiana Iacoboni and Tyler and Dylan Giuliano. Daughter of the late Saverio Piroli and the late Maria Louisa Acameni. Sister of the late Leonello Piroli (late Malvisa), the late Silvio Piroli (late Filomena), the late Bruna Piroli, the late Franco Piroli, Maria Piroli and Annunziata Piroli all of Italy and the late Angelo Piroli (Elena) of Sault Ste. Marie. Daughter-in-law of the late Paride and the late Augusta Iacoboni. Sister-in-law of Serafino Iacoboni (Dora), the late Franco and the late Antonietta Iacoboni. Remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends in Italy and Sault Ste. Marie.
Everyone says, “Nonnas are special”, we’ve heard it countless times in countless condolence messages we’ve received. But our Nonna was extra special. She was superhuman. Anything you needed, she was there for you. Whether it was pasta with Cheese Whiz when it was past our bedtime, or three bowls of Raisin Bran in the morning for breakfast, just because. The hardest thing for us was the simplest thing for her. For example, the hoodie string that would come out of your hood in the laundry would take us 3 hours to get back in, but it took her less than 5 minutes. Our Nonna was the belle of the ball no matter what day it was. She was always dressed to the nines and hair always done – she was a vision in a midi skirt, blouse, and her gold jewelry. Our Nonna was the sweetest, kindest soul who always put everyone else before herself. She was our protector, secret keeper, gnocchi maker, hug and kiss giver and most importantly the glue who kept us all together. Over time, our glue lost her strength, but the years of memories with our Nonna, we will carry on in our hearts because “Nonnas are special” but ours was extra special.
The family would like to thank the management and third floor staff at Van Daele for their kindness, compassion and comfort over the years. A special recognition to Guiseppina Agliani who was known to staff as the Thelma to Rina’s Louise.
