HUNT, Frank (1933-2013)

Posted

Born in London, England 79 years ago to Hanna Goad and Frederick Hunt.  Frank is survived by his two sisters, Margaret (Robert) of San Antonio, Texas and Hillary Ann (Ted) of Chelmsford, England.  After serving two years in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps in Germany and the Middle East, Frank looked to Canada to begin his working career.  His trade was finishing carpenter and cabinet maker and draftsman.  After years of working all over North America his work brought him to Sault Ste. Marie where he met the love of his life, his wife of thirty-six years, Carol Ann (nee Butkovich).  They worked hard and played even harder.  Relaxed in the Caribbean and traveled Europe.   Frank was the proud and loving stepfather to Andrea Carmichael.  She brought a lot of joy to his heart.  Son-in-law of the late Tom Butkovich and Aurora Butkovich.  Brother-in-law of Tom Butkovich Jr. and wife Helen.  Uncle to many nieces and nephews.  The late Howard Tishman, a Toronto developer brought his business savvy to Sault Ste. Marie back in the early 70’s and Frank and Howard were a natural fit.  Their legacy stems from the west end to the east end and many buildings in between.  Although Frank was very proud to be British he embraced the Italian people of the city like his lost family.  He loved making wine, learned how to make sausage and even helped his wife do her yearly preserves with their dear friends.  A gentleman in all aspects of his life, Frank was dedicated to his work and lived up to his motto “Cursum Perficio” (Stay the course to the end).  The family especially thanks the caregivers at Sault Area Hospital and ARCH who helped Frank and his family in the final stage of his life.  Memorial donations to ARCH would be appreciated by the family.  Cremation has taken place.  A mass in Frank’s memory will take place at St. Luke’s Cathedral on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 12 noon. The Very Reverend James McShane will officiate.  Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758). www.northwoodfuneral.com
