It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Esther Hotchkiss at the Sault Area Hospital on Sunday July 8, 2018 in her 104th year.  Devoted wife of the late Kenneth Hotchkiss.  Cherished mother of Gloria Hotchkiss, Diane Adams (Gerald) and Ronald Hotchkiss.  Treasured grandmother of Tony Roberts (Melanie), the late Lillian Roberts, David Roberts (Danielle), Barbara Ann Roberts, Emily Miller (Karl) and Colleen Adams Bishop (Paul Sharpe).  Proud great-grandmother of Makayla, Emma, Jonah, Aidan, Nathan, Kirstin, Brittany, Frederick and Brennen.  Predeceased by her siblings Dorothy Lott (late Leonard), Margarite Verney, Robert Verney (late Elva) and Elizabeth Mireault (late Maurice).  Also predeceased by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Dorothy Guinn (late George), Sheila Hotchkiss Johnston, Gordon Hotchkiss (late Betty), Stanley Hotchkiss (late Rose) and Norman Hotchkiss.  Esther will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, with a special place in the hearts of Angela and Stephen Walls.  Esther was born in Montreal, Quebec April 4, 1915.  She lived with her grandparents in England from the age of 7 to 10.  She married Kenneth March 30, 1940 in Montreal and later moved to the Laurentians where they raised their children and lived for many years.  In 1974, they relocated to Wawa, Ontario where they owned and operated Silver Birch Cottages.  A devoted member of the United Church, Esther was also an adventurer, an accomplished seamstress, creative in her endeavors, a wonderful cook and a perfectionist to the T.  She will be truly missed by all who knew her.  Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Friday July 13, 2018 from 6 pm to 9 pm and on Saturday July 14, 2018 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.  Funeral service to follow in the chapel at 2 pm.  The Rev. Bruce McLeish officiating.  Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Echo Bay.  Memorial contributions to the Echo Bay United Church, the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.  Special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Collegiate Heights Retirement Home for their excellent care over the years as well as the PSW's with CCAC, in particular Dianne, Sharon, Tracey and Leona.
