It is with heavy hearts that we annouce the passing of John, peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020 at the age of 85. John was born in Bodegraven, South Holland to the late Johannes and late Anna Hooymans. Beloved husband of Lois Hooymans.  Loving father of Nick Hooymans (Jennie), Lynne Hooymans (Kenny) and Dawn Marenger (Andre). Extra proud and loving Opa to Mariah, Tristan, Connor, Shane, and Ayden. Beloved brother of the late Arie, Cisca, late Corrie, Arnie, Willie, Cornelius, Annie, late Truus, Henk, Wim, Ben, Piet and late infant Joop. Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews.   Along with many other accomplishments John was proud to have been a member of Iron Workers Local 786 for 60 years.  John was best known for his kind, fun loving, gentle ways and was happiest when spending time with family and friends, camping, or working outdoors.

Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home-Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522) on Saturday, September 19, 2020 (maximum capacity 40 people at a time, masks are required) from 11 a.m. to 1p.m.  A private memorial service in the chapel will be held.  Memorial donations made (by cheque or online) to SAH Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amy for always going above and beyond while caring for John. They would also like to thank Dr. Booth, Dr. Rassouli, Dr. Carlson, and Dr. Aziz for their exceptional care.
