Died on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 after a long and painful struggle. Predeceased by his parents Captain and Florence Griffith and his sister Eileen Hormavirta (Jorma). Carl is survived and missed by his sister Florence Haft (Victor), his brother Fred Griffith (Marguerite) and his nieces and nephews; Mary Jane Persic (Silvio), Bob Haft (Andrea), Louise Stephens (John), Matthew Griffith (Brigitte), Kathleen Griffith and hospital volunteers Carrie Apostle and Ed St. Amand. A private funeral was held on Monday, June 7, 2004. For many years Carl worked as a deckhand on the ferry Agoming and later at Algoma Steel and Algoma Central. His abilities as a woodworker and turner were well known and appreciated by many. Carol was a uniformed member of the Salvation Army and gave many volunteer hours to its work. During his lengthy illness Carl was the recipient of wonderful and attentive care at the Davey Home and the Sault Area Hospital. Our thanks to the medical and nursing staff.
