A private graveside service at Hillside Cemetery in Blind River for the late Nancy Collins will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 with Reverend Lyn Heeley officiating.

We are saddened to announce the passing of a loving wife, mother and grandmother on February 11, 2021 Nancy Collins at her home in Blind River.
Born on All Saints Day, November 1, 1930, Nancy lived out her faith in God, trusted in Jesus as Saviour and knew that the Spirit was always guiding her life. Throughout her life she faithfully gave of herself quietly and unconditionally. Nancy lived following God’s teachings and shared and showed her love in all she did for her family and those who knew her well. She will be remembered by her quiet presence which demanded respect and in turn, she offered her caring words of wisdom and hope.
Leaving to grieve and mourn is her husband of over 67 years, James Collins. Also grieving are her children: Dr Jerry Collins, Dr. Doug Collins (Carol) and the Rev. Dr. Catherine Collins-Barker (Justin). Beloved Granny to Kirsten, Adam, Emily, Ryan and Sean Collins, and, Collin and Nigel Barker.
Nancy was employed by Cavanaugh Pharmacy, Simpsons (Richmond Hill), and also Blind River District High School and W.C. Eaket Secondary School for over 26 years. She was an amazing mother to her children who with Dad taught us the core values of life of giving without counting the cost. She was devoted to her family always following the activities and achievements of her children and later her grandchildren.
Nancy was an active member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Blind River. She was also a Life Member of the UCW (United Church Women), a Volunteer for over 25 years with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Sault Ste. Marie and a recipient of the Heart and Soul Award for Volunteer Service from the Heart and Stroke, Ontario Foundation. She was an avid knitter, creating many beautiful sweaters, mittens and toques for her family. In recent years she also made many infant hats for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sault Area Hospital.
Cremation has taken place.
In the spring, we will gather together as a family and community to celebrate Nancy’s life, to honour her memory and share in our grief as we continue to mourn her death.
