FIRST FLIGHT TO HEAVEN – With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Bill on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the F.J. Davey Home. Much loved husband of Darlene and the late Elsie (1983). Beloved father of the late Julie Christenson (Dan), Jeff (Barbara) of Calgary, AB., Alana Swinn (Mike) of Sault Ste. Marie. Loving Grandpa of Erik (Jen), Lora Porco (Mark), David, Jessica (Drew Williams), Michael, Morgan Riley, Madeline and Mitchell. Great-grandpa of Connor. Step-father of Dwight Code (Toni) of Calgary and Darwin Code (Karen) of Kelowna. Cherished brother of Wally (late Diana) and Hugh (Barbara) of Vancouver. Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Kamloops, B.C. to Ivan and Tora Govett October 3, 1929. They then moved to Vancouver when Bill was 10. He joined the RCAF in 1954, piloting, as Captain, various aircraft including the Aurora and Argus. He retired from Military service in 1975. He then joined the Sault College Aviation program as Flight Instructor. He was the last survivor of the three original Founding Fathers. He had many interests, attending various sporting events the grandchildren were involved in. He was so proud of them. He loved his Honda Pacific Coast motorcycle, camping, hunting, fishing, being involved in the 155 Borden Gray Air Cadets, the Air Force Association, Bushplane Heritage Museum, etc. Bill was blessed with a wonderful family, many great friends and a long, healthy life which he lived to the fullest. He will never be forgotten and forever loved. Friends may visit at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 6 pm until 9 pm.  Funeral service in the chapel on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11 am.  Rev. Phil Miller officiating.  Many thanks to all, especially the caring, compassionate staff of 300D Driftwood Beach unit at the Davey Home. God bless each of you.
