GERMANILI, Antonio

Posted

Antonio Germanili

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Germanili on October 10th, 2019 at the age of 85 after a short illness.

Son of the late Aldo and Armida Germanili of Italy. Loving husband and best friend of the late Olga (nee Tomasi) for 49 years. Wonderful father to Armida (Reg), and Carlo (Betty). Tony was a special nonno of Alicia (Bryan), Amy and Dana. Dear brother of the late Tiziana of Italy, Carmen of Germany, Tiziano and Martino of Sault Ste. Marie. Later in life, Tony was blessed to have met Irene Fusato, with whom he enjoyed 7 years of love, compassion, travelling and cooking. Tony will fondly be remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends in both Canada and Italy.

From humble beginnings, Tony started a new life with his family when he immigrated to Canada in 1966. Tony loved working with his hands and his talents were endless. In his life, he was a tailor, baker, wood worker and drywall contractor. Tony was most happy in his garden, cooking delicious family meals with Irene, puttering in his workshop or cheering on the Greyhounds. He will always be remembered as a kind, gentle man, who was an incredible husband, father, nonno and friend.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Wednesday October 16th at Precious Blood Cathedral at 10:00 a.m, Father Hamish Currie officiating. Cremation will be followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations are welcome to the Canadian Cancer Society (payable by cheque). Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456.

We raise a glass of your homemade wine to you in heaven. Salute nonno.  Thanks for showing us the way to live a good life. Love you forever.

"My garden is a haven from a world of weary care. There is always utter freedom and sweet contentment there."
