Mary passed peacefully away on the Feast of the Annunciation on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the young age of 96 years with her children at her side.  An ever beautiful and devoted wife, Mary is now reunited with her loving husband Bruno. Mother of Gloria, late Angela, Chuck (Francine), Carmen (Carol), Vince (Alison), and Eugene. Grandmother of Ryan (Kate), Rachel, Christian (Alyssa), Carley (Pat), Christopher (Chantal), Conlan (Natalie), Daniella, Vincent (Shira), Gabriel, Michael (Alyse) and Mikayla (Jordan). Great - Grandmother of Ffiona, James, Lola, Mya, Taylor, Leo, and Nora. Daughter of the late Carmine and Eugenia Scarfone.  Sister of Eugene “Sparky” (Ann), Lillian Soltys (late Walter) and predeceased by Tony (Antoinette), Joseph (Lucy), Eleanora Ferroni (John), Emilio (Olga), Rocco (Beryl), Josephine Lorenzo (Albert) and Mike (Mona).  Daughter-in-law of the late Charles and Vincenza Gassi. Predeceased by her in-laws Frank (Christine), Mary Anna Laccubue (Jim), Jaqueline Lorenzo (Frank), Aurora Butkovich (Thomas), and Remo (June). Auntie Mary will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Mary was a music leader in the church who sang for many weddings and funerals, and was later known for her many years in the restaurant business. Her expertise in cooking was unparalleled with her specialties being gnocchi and genetti.  She finally retired after one last batch of Christmas baking!  Mary was strong in her faith, loved her family, and was generous and kind to all. Family and friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at St. Gregory’s Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Alex Saurianthadathil officiating.  Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Memorial donations to Mary’s favourite charity, the St. Anthony of Padua Society or Sault Area Hospital Foundation.
