Passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital on April 24, 2017 at the age of 91. Predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph (2005). Dear and loving mother of Ted (Angeline) of Fonthill, John (Paula) of Calgary and David (Elaine Pitcher) of Sault Ste. Marie. Cherished grandmother of Carolyn, Kathryn (Troy Stuckless) and Julia. Predeceased by her parents Rocco and Lucia D'Amico and sister Helen D'Amico, and survived by her sisters Rosina Popp, Josephine Kivlehan (late Bernard) and brother Victor D'Amico (Cecilia). Also predeceased by her brother-in-law Dan Galotta (late Rosina) and her sister-in-law Mary Clifford (Frank). Mary also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins, and will be missed by all who knew her. Mary worked alongside Joe as they owned and operated the Cascade Inn in Niagara Falls from 1962 until their retirement in 1997. They spent their retirement in Fonthill during which time they travelled to Florida, northern Ontario and to Alberta enjoying time with their children and grandchildren. Mary will long be remembered for her passion for cooking and for the wonderful meals she prepared for family and friends. She was also a proud and long time member of the Catholic Women's League.
Friends will be received by the family at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill, Ontario on Thursday, April 27th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. where Vigil prayers will be said at 2:30 that afternoon. The Funeral Mass to honour Mary's life will take place at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church, 50 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill, on Friday, April 28th at 10:30 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Fairview Mausoleum, Niagara Falls. As an expression of sympathy donations to the St. Alexander Building Fund, OneFoundation for Niagara Health System, Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation, or charity of one's choice would be greatly appreciated.
