Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital with family at his side on Thursday September 6, 2018 at the age of 66. Much loved husband of Cynthia for 38 years. Loving and devoted father of Danielle Hall (Steve), David (Kahli) and Daniel (Jocelyn). Proud grandfather of Samantha and Sydney Cowan. Predeceased by his parents David John "Jack" and June Fremlin. Dear brother of Tom Fremlin (Trudy), the late John Alexander Fremlin, Vic Fremlin, Jeff Fremlin and Cindy Shaughnessy (Fred). Beloved son-in-law of the late Aggie and late Dolly Albanese. Dear brother-in-law of Emilio Albanese, Dominica Farkas (Rick), Clara Madonna (Tony), Frank Farkas Sr. and Kelly Principe. Rod will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Rod was a dedicated captain at the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services, serving our city for 28 years. He was also a talented carpenter by trade where he shared many memories with his boys on the job sites. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Rod's life at the Northern Grand Gardens on Thursday September 13, 2018 from 6 pm to 10 pm (food and refreshments will be provided). Memorial contributions to the Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen, St. Vincent Place or the Canadian Mesothelioma Foundation would be greatly appreciated. A special thank you to Dr. Laura Donahoe of the Toronto General Hospital and staff of the Thoracic Unit for the special care given to Rod during his stay. Thank you also to Dr. Berg, Dr. Risouli, Dr. Kargbo, Dr. Booth and the staff at the Sault Area Hospital.
