Passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, November 26, 2022 after an unanticipated struggle with pneumonia.

Born July 26, 1943 in Thessalon, Ontario.

Forever loved husband of Linda (nee Roy).  Cherished father of Sheldon (Marnie), Todd (Wendi), Chris (Candy) and Greg (Oksana).  Chuck was very proud of his sons.  Grandfather of Brittany (Allan) of New Zealand, Brandon and Madison.  Great grandfather of Jade.  Chuck loved his cousin Joanne MacFarlane (David).  She was a sister to him.  Predeceased by his father Harry, his mother Martha and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward and Betty Roy.

Chuck was a dedicated school teacher for many years.  He spent countless hours coaching extra curricular activities such as ringette and curling.

Chuck was a true friend to many.  He was an avid curler and was very involved with organizing and promoting the sport.  He truly enjoyed all the time spent with his curling buddies.

Fishing was another favourite pastime which he always looked forward to with family and friends.  Bringing fish home was never the priority, the company and experience took precedence.

Chuck's baking, especially his pies, will be remembered and missed by many.

Chuck's family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the ICU at the Sault Area Hospital for their kindness and compassion.  As conveyed to Linda on several occasions "he is a very nice man".  Also a huge thank you to our close friends and neighbours for all of their support during this difficult time.

A private graveside service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. If you wish, memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation or to the  charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Frees family.

We will miss you always, forever in our hearts.
