With broken hearts, we share the passing of John Ferguson on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at home at the age of 71.

Above all else, John's biggest priority and number one joy was his family; we know we were so loved, and we loved him right back.  Beloved husband and best friend of 48 years to the love of his life Marlene Ferguson.  World's greatest dad to Erin Sharma (TJ) and John Ferguson (Paola).  Grandpa to Chloe and Johnnie Ferguson, his pride and joy.  Brother to Murray Ferguson (Vicky).  Brother-in-law to Maj-Liisa Donaghue.

Remembered by Aunt Bernice Ferguson (late Sandy) and Aunt Velma Nesbitt (Bill) and by cousins Martin (Debbie), Valoree MacKinnon, Tannis Ferguson-Jodar (Sebastian), Donna Vankosky (late Bruce), Linda Foote (Art), Marly Wilson (Heather), as well as good friends in SSM, Florida and Dryden -- especially his long-time Wart Lake fishing buddies Bob, Ray, Tom, Bill and Barry; golf friends; the TGIF group; and friends at RTO.

A graduate of Queen's University with a B.Ed. from McArthur College in Kingston, John was a dedicated teacher, first at Korah and then at White Pines, where he was especially proud of his contributions to the Lake Superior Basin Project.  He loved travelling, fishing, golfing and curling.  He enjoyed the years he spent at his camp on St. Joseph Island, as well as his winters as a Florida snowbird.  John was a poet and storyteller, and we are so grateful for the words he left with us.

The family will have a private burial, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East  705-759-2522) at a later date.  The ongoing support of friends and family will always be remembered.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) in memory of John can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave memories and condolences as a keepsake for the family.
