Kenneth Faggetter (Ken) passed away peacefully in Stratford on October 7, 2021 at the age of 97.
Ken was born in Douglas, Manitoba.
Ken was a WWII veteran, and served as an aircraft engine mechanic for Lancaster bombers in Britain. After the war, Ken completed an engineering degree at the University of Manitoba and then moved to Peterborough where he worked for C.G.E. and met and married Lura Tyler, a registered nurse at C.G.E. Ken and Lura both taught Sunday school at Trinity United Church in Peterborough. When Ken was 57 years old, he obtained a master of engineering degree from the University of Toronto. Subsequently, he accepted a position as a professor of engineering at the University of Regina, where he completed his career. As an avid aviator for much of his life, if you looked in the skies in years past, you might just have seen him executing a loop or a roll! After the death of Lura, Ken was blessed to meet Linda Sparks, a retired hospital chaplain, whom he married when he was 85.
Ken will be sorely missed by his wife Linda, his sons, Ron and Doug Faggetter and their wives, Cynthia Ledgley and Kelly Voelker, his step-sons Chris and Tim Sparks and their wives Jill and Linda, and his granddaughter Kathleen Faggetter. He will also be missed by many other family members including his nieces and nephews Scott Brown (Jane), Elaine Navarro (Demetrio), Kathy Letkeman (Lorne), Sandra Potts (Dave), and Laurie Armstrong (Daryl). Ken will also be missed by Janice Ricci, who was a loving caregiver for many years of Ken’s later life.
Ken is predeceased by his first wife, Lura Faggetter, his parents, Bert and Ethyl Faggetter, his sister, Shirley Brown (Ian), his brother-in-law, Brody Tyler, his sister-in-law, Margaret Murney, and his nephew, Ken Tyler.
A graveside service will be held for Ken at Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, ON. on October 16, 2021 at 1:30 pm, (please register with Comstock-Kaye at 705-745-4683) officiated by long-time friend, Reverend Bill Adams.
