August 10, 1927 – November 23, 2021

I am reminded of the poet George Eliot who wrote; ”life began with waking up and loving my mother’s face”.  That love lasted and matured within me over 64 years of her 94 years of life.  In the early morning hours of November 23, 2021, my mother passed away and I was forced to say goodbye to my rock, my compass and a simply amazing woman.

She will be missed!

Beloved wife of the late Bill Draper. Cherished mother of Dan (Sue) Draper, loved grandmother of Paul (Debbie) Draper and great grandmother of Allison Draper. Predeceased by her siblings Mae O'Connor (late T.J.), Edna Pim, Margaret Pim and Harry Pim.  Special aunt to Michael O'Conner, Donna Schoenherr, Terry O'Conner, Stephen O'Conner and Dorothy O'Conner.

Friend, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, grande dame of 700 Bay St. (where she lived for the last 38 years), and a veritable force of nature, she is the last of a family legacy in Sault Ste. Marie, beginning with David Pim and the Old Stone House.  She touched, nurtured and engaged countless people.

To all who knew her, she was strong willed, smart, independent, caring, outspoken and outgoing.  She was definitely not someone to be taken lightly. She was exactly the right personality to catch the attention of a young and recently discharged veteran and member of the storied First Canadian Parachute Battalion…my dad.  Married on February 18, 1954, I would trust no one more than he to safely guide her to the next evolution of her soul’s journey.

I could go on forever but I will simply say this: I love you mom, with all my heart.  Good night sweet princess and may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
Love everlasting….your son.

Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522). Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to ARCH Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
