DORIGO, Josephine

Anna was born in Farra di Soligo, Treviso, Italy to the late Maria and Augusto De Nardi on August 1, 1932. She passed away peacefully at the F. J. Davey Home, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the age of 85. She was the devoted wife of the late Lino Dorigo and loving mother of Ugo (Rossella) and Merilice (Frank). Cherished Nonna of the late Nicholas, Davide, Alecia (Christopher), Luca, and Brandon. Sister of the late Tiziano (Lina), Giovanni (the late Miri), the late Domenico (Celestina), and Gabriela (Aldo) all of Italy. Sister-in-law of Bruno (Beniamina), Adelina (Flavio), Maria (Ubaldo), and the late Luciana (Paolo) all of Italy. Giuseppina arrived in Canada on July 21, 1959 to marry her sweetheart Lino who had emigrated from Italy 5 years earlier. Together they worked hard to learn a new language and build a life for themselves and their young family in this new country. She was a great cook and especially enjoyed baking – making sure that there were always enough cookies for anyone who dropped by for coffee. Her jams, sauces, bread and lasagnas were amazing. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours nurturing her garden and tending to her flowers. She took every opportunity to go for a walk and marveled at our Canadian forests. She was an excellent seamstress and worked many years at Alton Furniture and afterwards at Bob Dionisi & Sons Floor & Window Covering making beautiful curtains. In town, she was known as “The Seamstress”. Giuseppina was a devoted Roman Catholic and member of St. Jerome Parish. She was also a lifetime member of the Elettra Marconi Society. She was very proud of her family and will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family in Canada and in Italy (Velda and the late Vittorio Dorigo and family). Friends may visit at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E.) on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6 pm – 9 pm. Funeral Mass to be celebrated from St. Jerome Parish on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10 am followed by entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Rev. Daniele Muscolino officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the F. J. Davey Home would be appreciated. The family is ever grateful to Ezia and Maria, her personal caregivers, and to all of the wonderful staff on the second floor of the Apple Orchard at the F. J. Davey Home for the care and attention, compassion and respect shown to our beloved mother and grandmother. Your kindness, patience and support made a world of difference for all of us.
