Heaven welcomed a kind and exceptionally talented craftsman on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. Hank passed away at the age of 84 with his loving wife Donna by his side, as she’s been for 53 years.
Loving, generous and devoted father and father-in-law of Derek & Annette Donofrio and Shelli & Sam Ubriaco. He will be reunited with his parents Frank & Jean, siblings Irene Fragale (late Luigi), Cecilia Donofrio, Frank Donofrio (Judy), and Mary Schwartz (David) and brothers-in-law Primo, Carmen (Angela Roberts) and Joseph (Naomi) Tucci. Also reunited with his father- and mother-in-law Joe and Pierina Tucci. Hank is survived by his sisters Sharon Carricato (Ralph) and Jo-Anne Arbour (late Dennis), sister-in-law Laura Erlandson (late Curt) and brothers-in-law Guido (Olga) and Norman Tucci (late Barbara). He is a respected uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Hank was an exceptionally talented carpenter who began honing his craft as a young man at George Brown College in Toronto. On his return ‘home’ he began working in the construction industry. His early days involved building many of the city’s landmarks which remain standing. He became a jack-of-all-trades and meticulous craftsman with a keen eye for detail and quest for perfection – always. “If it’s not done right, it’s not done.” He ultimately embarked on a career with the City of SSM as Building Inspector, then Manager of Parks & Recreation, finishing his career as the Superintendent of Cemeteries.
Hank’s generosity with his love, time and skills knew no bounds – always placing the needs of others ahead of his own. He overcame seemingly insurmountable health challenges over the years yet maintained his boundless humour and positive attitude – Donna always the wind beneath his wings.
The table saw, jointer, planer and router are now idle but the memories of a beloved and honourable man will live forever.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Sunday, September 20 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. (maximum capacity of 40 people at a time, face mask required).
