It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of George, with family by his side, at ARCH on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the age of 81. Beloved husband and soul mate of Andréa Desbiens (Filion) for 60 years. Loving father of Diane Letang (Rick), Marc (Isabel) and Ginette Basso (Byron). Cherished Pépère of Danielle (Anthony), Michelle (Adam), Renée (Aaron), Amber, Ben and Justin. Loving great pépère of Liam and Jack. George is predeceased by his parents Rhéa and Albert Desbiens. Brother of Marcel (Gàil) and René (late Fidèle) and predeceased by Albert (Thérèse), Paul (Anita), Don (late Judy), Theresa Leach (late Joe) and Jackie Laforest (late Eddie). George will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and close friends. George was dedicated to safety and enjoyed his long-standing career as a paramedic with Algoma Steel and the City of Sault Ste. Marie. He was always that friendly face and genuine smile selling tickets for the GHC Big Wish Lottery, SAH Foundation and Sault Rotary. Funeral Mass to be held at Paroisse Sainte-Marie-du-Sault on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jean-Pierre Mukuna officiating. Spring interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
