Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, January 17, 2022 at the age of 82. Maria is now reunited with her dear husband Jaime Sr. DeMelo. Beloved mother of Firmo (Teresa) of Brampton, Emmanuel, Leonilde, Roberto, John (Dawn), Jaime Jr. and Mark. Dear Grandma of Tony Felgueiras (Marybeth), Nicole (Stuart), Ashley, Kayliegh, Alexander and Taylor. Proud great grandma Benjamin, Lauren and Lilly. Predeceased by her parents Manuel and Maria-Jose and her brother Antonio of the Azores, Portugal. Sister-in-law of the late Maria Francisco (late Armando). Aunt of Manuel Francisco (Linda), Angie Rankin (late Ken), Tony Francisco (Ruth Anne), Jaime Francisco and the late Zaira Lopes (late John). Maria will also be missed by many cousins and friends.
A private family Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church (All Covid-19 restrictions and regulations apply) and she will be laid to rest with her husband. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church - Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.
