Mario Dalla-Vicenza passed away suddenly, Wednesday, January 29, 2003 in his 65th year. Leaving to cherish his memory his wife Deanna, of 41 years. His children Janice Skagen (Glen), Peter (Sandra), Mark (Connie). His beloved grandchildren, Sarah Simon (Alvin), Shawna Skagen, Nathan and Natalie Dalla-Vicenza and Robin Dalla-Vicenza. His special great grandchildren Austin and Paige Simon. Son of the late Cecilia and Mario (Vic) Dalla-Vicenza. Son-in-law of Lucien Leblanc (late Vivian). Brother of Judy Bertolo (Ren), Dennis (Denise), Jim (Linda), Ken, Lydia Howell (Vern), Mike (Joanne). Incredible friend and brother-in-law to Lucien Jr. (Marg), Kathy Quarrell, Lorraine Leblanc, Julia Leblanc and Nicki (Earl) Frair. He will be sadly missed by many special nieces and nephews for his big bear hugs and his generous nature. Mario distinguished himself by many achievements both professional and voluntary. He held the designation of Chartered Accountant that he received in 1962 and, in 1994, he was honoured by his profession with the designation of Fellow (F.C.A.). In 1965 he was granted the designation of C.M.A and in 1993 he was honoured by his peers with a Fellow (FCMA). In 1985 he graduated from Lake Superior State University with an M.B.A. Included in his many voluntary activities, he served as a Board Member of the Ranch Ehrlo Society, a youth treatment centre located in Saskatchewan. For his contributions a newly completed residential home in Regina has been dedicated "Dalla-Vicenza House". Mario was a Past President of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Board. Mario was employed by Algoma Steel for 20 years, serving in various management capacities. Upon leaving Algoma in 1983, he spent 16 years with IPSCO (head office in Regina), rising to Senior Vice-President of Corporate Affairs where he retired in 1998. Upon his return from IPSCO in 1998, Mario also served as Vice-President of Finance and Administration at Algoma Steel for a 2 year period. Retiring a second time in 2002. Most recently, Mario was a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Development Corporation (CDC) as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Sault College. Many wonderful days were spent enjoying singing in the Calabrese Choir, golfing, working on his cottage and new home and enjoying the fruits of his labours. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, February 3, 2003 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Veronica's Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Conway officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Sault Area Hospital Palliative Care or to the Ranch Ehrio Society would be appreciated by the family.
