With love and sadness, we share the peaceful passing of Peter M. Croghan (age 90) on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the F.J. Davey Home. Peter was predeceased by his parents J.B. (Jack) Croghan and Ethel Croghan of North Bay, Ontario; his son, Shawn of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. He was the last of five boys; George, Merv, Barney and Milt. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his son Bruce (Dorothy), his grandchildren Josh (Alyssa Samm), Scott, Melanie (Gabriel) Bako, and great grandchildren Leila and Elliot (Josh and Alyssa), all of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also left to mourn are many nieces and nephews.

Peter grew up in North Bay and was self-employed in the family tourist business. He joined the Ontario Ministry of Industry and Tourism which resulted in a transfer to Sault Ste. Marie. He then joined Dawson and Keenan as a realtor and became Manager of the Real Estate branch before his retirement.

He was a lifetime member of the Masonic and Shriner's organizations and was part of the Shriner's Oriental Band. Throughout his many years of service, he enjoyed organizing Fish Frys; the children’s Christmas parties and driving children and families to appointments. Peter had a great sense of humour, wit, kindness and always enjoyed being around people who were having a good time whether with groups of friends and family or the coffee club at Timmies.

We were very fortunate that Peter was able to visit Winnipeg often through the years, initially by driving out in the summer and winter to enjoy many family celebrations. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apples of his eye and he cherished his time with them.

Pete spent many enjoyable hours with his niece Bonnie, who he had a very close relationship with. He looked forward to the frequent barbeques and get-togethers over the years with her husband John, friends and family. As he became more dependent, Bonnie was always there for him, visiting often and caring for him in any way she could.

He lived independently until this past December which is something he was very proud of. Thank you to Bonnie and friends Kelly and Marilyn Ambeault for all the support you provided to Dad.

Thank you to the staff at the F.J. Davey Home for the care provided these past months. As per Dad's wishes, there will be no funeral service or celebration of life. His ashes will be interred at the St. Luke's Columbarium. Donations in Peter's name may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 468 Colborne St. London, ON N6B 2T3, or via https://www.mochashriners.org//.  Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E.  705-759-2522).  Please visit www.arthurfuneralhome.com to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family.
