Chances are you might have known our dad, Ken Crawford. He was “Mr. Canadian Tire” for 44 years working in parts, adjusting and service departments; he also worked for Algoma Truck & Tractor and Ray Motors, three years respectively. He was a CB radio operator, had his Ham Radio license, even building his own tower to tune into the world’s affairs. He was active in the 1960s/70s stock-car days; a patient fisherman and enjoyed ‘Macgyvering’ many things into working order or even into existence. Ken was an armchair traveller and knew the world like the back of his hand. He was the king of trivia; adept at Sudoku and crossword puzzles. His scribbled notes on napkins and paper towels illustrated how his busy mind was always at work.
Ken had a great caring partner in Elizabeth “Liz” Jackman over the past 16 years. He savoured her cooking and adored her caring spirit and unconditional love. She brought her love of American sports, especially football, into their home, sparking an interest for it in him too. Ken was the proud Dad to Cindy Ellen Crawford (London) and Glenn Crawford (Ottawa) and Grandpa to Aurora Tynan (London). His strong work ethic, humor, passion for nature, politics and science lives on in their genes. Ken was the son of the late William ‘Bill’ Crawford and late May (nee Ray) and then stepson to late Cecil John Moore. Brother to Maureen Bridge (Joe); and Big Brother to the late Douglas ‘Doug’ Crawford (Joanne); and Richard ‘Rick’ Crawford (late Laura). Uncle to a number of nieces and nephews. Gizmo, his cat, was a treasured companion.
Restrictions on travel due to pandemic precautions meant our family couldn’t be together when he passed but other people helped to ease that gap. Thank you to the SAH teams in emergency, 3B and his final stop at 3A. Thank you, Dr. Bowen, for your excellent care and a bouquet of thanks to nurse Nicole, who was there to see our Dad embark on his next adventure.
No visitation or funeral service is planned. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522). Interment at a future date.
