Harry passed away suddenly at the FJ Davey Home on Thursday. May 14th one week after celebrating his 100th birthday.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Eileen in 2018. Father of Robert Courtney (Jennifer) and Susan Littleton (late Ken) of St. Joseph Island and Stephen Courtney (Beth) of Kenora. Grandfather of Adam Courtney (Khanh), Matthew Courtney (Hayley), Courtney Littleton (Adam Underhill), Kendra Littleton, Brooke Littleton (Alex Ouimette), Heather Hanwell (David), Stephanie Loewen (Cory) as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Harry is survived by his brother Stan Courtney (June) of North Bay. Harry was born in Petites Newfoundland, the 8th of 10 children born to Charles and Julia Courtney. The family moved to Toronto in 1926 where Harry attended Danforth Tech. Early in WW2 Harry worked as an X-ray technician for John Inglis who produced weapons for the war effort. Later Harry enlisted in the Canadian Army and became an x-ray technician in the Medical Corps. While stationed in England he met Eileen Clark and they were married in Redhill, Surrey in 1945. After the war Harry and Eileen moved to Sault Ste. Marie where in partnership with his brother Clyde they built the famous Courtney craft boats. In the 1960’sHarry and his family moved to St. Joseph Island and established Courtney’s Marina and Gift Shop. Harry owned a floatplane from which he took numerous photographs of the area. Later he became a rockhound and made decorative and functional items from local puddingstone. Cremation has taken place and a gathering for family and friends will take place at later date.
