It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Mario Joseph Coletti, Saturday, July 17th, 2021, in St. Marys, Ontario at the age of 90 in his home. Mario was born April 14th, 1931, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and is predeceased by his parents Luigina and Sabatino, as well as by his brothers and sisters John (Gilda), Dominic (Gloria), Roger (Margaret), Maria and Velia (William). He is survived by his younger brother Alfred (Ilvana). Mario is also survived by his daughter Michelle (John) and has been blessed with many nieces and nephews. In his teenage years, Mario attended dances at the YMCA and met this beautiful young lady, Yvonne, with whom he fell in love. She attended his hockey games and missed him very much when his team would travel. Mario and Yvonne were married in 1952. They were phenomenal dancers for decades. Mario’s passion from his teenage years was visual art. He was granted quite a gift from God and was an admirer of artists Robert Bateman and Ken Danby. Mario created works of art in various media including nature and portraits into his early eighties. Mario and Yvonne became parents in 1966 with the adoption of their only child Michelle. There have been so many expressions of love, sacrifices, moments of joy and sorrow in the family. The most precious gift has been their faith in the Lord. Mario moved to St. Marys In June of 2017 to live with his daughter and son-in-law John after the passing of Yvonne on July 19, 2016. He made many new friends and had the opportunity to try new areas of visual art such as pottery. Mario loved going out for dinner with friends and family. For his daughter, it has been such an honour to love, and care for Mario in his senior years. This has been an incredible gift granted to his daughter from the Lord. Mario and Yvonne are both tremendously missed! A private graveside service will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery with Father Paul Conway officiating. Memorial donations may be to the Better Ways for Seniors, 5744 Perth Line 8, St. Marys, ON N4X 1C4.
