Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the age of 82. After a long and courageous battle with kidney disease, Achille is now at peace.
Achille is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maria (nee Policicchio) and children - John (Patty), Carmen, Rico (Judy), Rose (Randy), and Franca. Much loved Nonno of Jessica, Jonathan, Kalle (Cayllan), Anthony (Tiana), and Alexander. Son of the late Domenico and late Rosina Cavaliere. Brother of Adelina Uliano (late Nicola) of Italy, late Carmine (late Maria), Eda Degregorio (Frank). Son-in-law of the late Enrico and late Carmela Policicchio. Brother-in-law of the late Giuseppe Policicchio (late Ottorina), late Saverio Policicchio of Italy, late Michele Policicchio (Francesca), late Mario Policicchio (Rosetta) of Toronto, late Giuseppina Muto (late Generoso) of Italy, late Agostino Policicchio (Maria), Rosina Piluso (Domenico) of Italy, and Antonio Policicchio (Lina). Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born in Lago, Cozenza, Achille immigrated to Canada with his new wife in 1957. After working at Algoma Steel for 30 years, Achille enjoyed his retirement farming on his property on Leigh's Bay Road. Achille and Maria were proud of their garden and were generous in sharing with the many friends they made throughout the years.
At Achille’s request, a private service was held at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522). Memorial contributions (payable by cheque) to Sault Area Hospital Renal Dialysis Unit would be appreciated by the family.
