It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Nancy Kay Caldwell on December 10th, 2019 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario at the age of 76.  Beloved and devoted partner in life of Pat for over 54 years.  Loving mother of Todd (Shaun), Jen (Trevor) and Kim (Tom).  Devoted and proud Grandma to Will, Allie, Jared and Lauren.  Loyal sister to Joan (Charlie) and Karen (late Neil).  Nancy will be greatly missed by many special nieces, nephews, family and friends.  She will deeply be remembered for her plucky, outgoing and caring personality.  Nancy was a strong believer in living every day to its fullest.

Nancy was born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin where she met and married her high school sweetheart.  After completing her B.Sc. in Medical Technology, she and Pat left Eau Claire for many destinations from Colorado to Florida to Kansas. They fostered each other’s love of nature through many out of door adventures, eventually settling in Canada with 3 young children in tow.  Nancy continued her career in medical technology, later moving on to work at the MS Society of Canada, the Terry Fox Foundation and Ducks Unlimited.  She proudly became a Canadian citizen on Canada Day 1993.  After successfully fledging their brood, she returned to her early passion for painting.  Nancy will forever be remembered for her art, creating pieces others will enjoy and treasure for life.  She won 3 prizes for her art work.  She was a central member in the Charleswood Art Club and continued with the Algoma Art Society and the Passionate Painters in the Sault, where she became inspired to t
each and share her knowledge and joy of painting.

Nancy will most be remembered for her ability to push herself and those around her to achieve more than they ever dreamed.  Whether it was cycling across Canada with Pat at the age of 62 or teaching many friends new painting techniques, Nancy was fearless, passionate and patient with all those that she touched.  Nancy’s energy was tempered with kindness, and her personality left a positive lasting impression on many.  She will be profoundly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations (payable by cheque) can be made to the MS Society or Parkinson Canada.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at the Art Gallery of Algoma from 5 pm to 8 pm. Arrangements entrusted by Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522).
