Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on May 30, 2023 inhis 82nd year. Reunited by his first wife, Jane Burgess (nee Lattimer), he leaves behind his beloved wife, Betty Burgess (nee Campbell). Dear father of Jennifer Balfour (Scott). Special grandfather of Meghan Balfour, Sarah Balfour, Kevin Parker, David Marshall and Denise Campbell.

Predeceased by his parents, Lionel Harry Burgess and Mary (May) Ried (nee Flemming). Loving brother of Rev. Richard Burgess (Margaret). Brother-in-aw of Bill Lattimer (Karen) and Dr. Bruce Lattimer (Cheryl). Ron will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ron worked at the YMCA back in 1967. He was a teacher and taught at Alexander Henry High School for 30 years. When he retired, Ron started a business called the North Huron Charters. He greatly enjoyed sailing and spending time with his fellow sailors as well as trips to Florida in the winter months.

A memorial visitation at the Algoma Sailing Club will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 12 pm – 2pm. A service will follow at 2pm. In Ron’s memory, cheque donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or online at www.kidney.ca/donate and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
