BRIGLIO, Emilia

Posted

Peacefully, in her sleep, on February 12, 2013 at the age of 91, Emilia Briglio (nee Caruso) gently surrendered into the hands of God.   Beautiful daughter of the late Pasquale and Antonia Caruso.  Predeceased by her husband and soul mate, Edoardo Briglio with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.  Loving mother of Yolanda Guzzo (Emilio), Linda, Achillo, and Silvio Briglio (Sharon).  Devoted grandmother to Lina and Mauro Guzzo, Ryan Blain (Melissa) and Carolina Germanili (Justin).  Beloved great-grandmother of Christina (Jonathan Lazdins) and Alexandra Girard, Emily, Nicholas, and Olivia Guzzo, and Maverick, Jordan and Isabella Blain.   Dear sister of the late Alessandro Caruso (late Palmina), late Palma Briglio (Gaspare), late Ernesto Caruso (Matilda), Pietruzza Gagliardi (late Mario) all of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; Giuseppina Mazzarello (Ernesto) of Ottawa, Ortenzia Sdao (late Francesco), Christina Spina (Gabriele), Carmela Bossio (Geniale), and the late Francesco Caruso (Francesca) all of Italy.  Sister-in-law of late Nicole Briglio (Cesira) of Montreal; Chicchina Coccimiglio (Michele) of Burnaby, British Columbia.  She will be remembered with great fondness and affection by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.  Emilia was a devout Catholic and derived great pleasure from servitude to her family, friends, and community. She found great joy in pleasures such as gardening and spending countless hours in the kitchen baking and cooking for others.  Many can contest to her delectable cuisine.  Her fierce loyalty to her faith and her love of family are to be admired.  All who knew her have been touched by her strength, determination, fortitude, and generosity.  She will be greatly missed.
