BRANNEN, Philip Kelly

Passed away at home on Sunday, November 11, 2012 in his 76th year.  Beloved husband of Sheila, love of his life for the past 56 years.  Cherished Dad of Phyllis Bettello (John) and Stewart Brannen.  Much loved and proud Pappy of Andrea Bettello and Mark Bettello.  Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Alice and his brothers Edward, Robert and Alistair.  Survived by his brothers Raymond (Margery) of Dundee, Scotland, Bill (Marg) of Redmond, Washington, sisters-in-law, May Brannen of Alness, Scotland, Freida Brannen of Mississauga, Joyce Brannen of Dundee, Scotland, Mary Dick (Bill) of Dundee, Scotland and numerous nieces and nephews in Scotland, Canada and the USA.  Phil was a construction electrician and instrumentation mechanic at Algoma Steel prior to joining the technical trades faculty at Sault College.  Phil was well-known in the community for his address of the haggis at Robbie Burns Suppers.  He loved spending time with his family, woodcarving and the perfect pint of Guinness.  At Phil’s request, there will be no funeral service.  Cremation and interment at Greenwood Cemetery.    A “Celebration of Phil’s Life” will take place at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.  in the lower lounge of the funeral home. Please come for a cup of tea and a wee blether. Memorial donations to the Group Health Centre Trust Fund would be appreciated by the family.
