Peggy Besiallon (nee Boyer), whose given name was Mabel (but hated when people called her that) passed away on September 25, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born March 13, 1934, at Camp 17 on the Mississagi River.

Predeceased by her beloved mom Emma, her son Peter Jr., her grandchild Chayah, two little spirits Douglas and Jesse, her son-in-law Doug, and her husband Peter Sr. She was the oldest of her siblings all of whom have passed on except for her youngest sister Janet, and her nephews who were raised as little brothers Alan and Brian. Her sisters were Bernice, Valda, Kathleen, Karen, Janice, and her brothers Harold and Kenneth.

She is survived by her children Debbie and Ron. Her grandchildren are Jana, Laura (Bryan), Ryan (Lynne), Michael, David, Becky, Katie, Chase, Mayce, and Jadyn. Her great-grandchildren Mattea, Leland, Keegan, Galaxy, Theodore, Luna, Bryson, Elizabeth, and Alayah.

She lived a quiet life, calling with her sisters, visiting with her relatives and friends, and interacting with the people who lived on her road near the Lighthouse Mission. She loved to watch the birds, in her youth she often trained crows, but as she grew older, she planted flowers and kept hummingbird feeders so that they would always visit her front window. Reading was a favourite pastime, keeping up with the local TV bingo, and (before the internet) used to write many letters, especially to her sisters who lived away.

Peggy was fiercely independent but lived with her family in her final months, and then at Golden Birches Long-Term Care. She kept in close contact with her daughter-in-law Nancy Martin and always welcomed visits with her good friend Phyllis Chiblow. Her neighbour Joanne Pilon was always willing to help with necessities when Peggy’s health began to decline. She would like to thank the following people for the outstanding care she received: niece Wanda Boyer, nurse Karla Veilleux, Kathleen Lofstrom, and all those who stopped by to help. Thank you for the care provided by the staff at the North Shore Health Network in her last weeks of life.

Memorial donations can be given to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a foundation of your choice.
