It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of William Jacob Bauer "Bill", on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Extendicare Mapleview.

Bill was born in Hanover, Ontario on February 9, 1931, the treasured son of the late Marie and Jakob Bauer and son-in-law of the late Annie and George Moore.  Beloved husband of Dorothy Jean for 67 years. Cherished father of Bill (Catherine) and George, and father-in-law of Susan.  Adored grampa of Jake Bauer (Lauren), Jessica Bauer and Micheal Delayer (mother Joy). Brother to the late Karl (Gloria), Harry (Bernice) and Lydia.  Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends with whom he had life-long relationships which Bill held precious.

Bill was proud to be a French Teacher and taught at the Collegiate and at the Dunn. He retired in 1986 and enjoyed travelling with his wife to places like England, Turkey, Portugal, Cuba and throughout the U.S. Bill was active in the lives of his grandchildren and taught them how to fish and appreciate the outdoors.  He loved fishing and hunting along with all sports which he faithfully watched on T.V.

We will miss Bill and his kind and gentle manner he displayed toward everyone he knew.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nicholas Smith and Dr. B. Barbeau for looking after Bill throughout the years along with the staff at Pathways Retirement Home, the Doctors and staff at SAH on 2A and 1B and finally the team at Extendicare Mapleview during Bill's short stay.

There will be a private family graveside at Greenwood Cemetery - West Section on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Memorial contributions in memory of Bill (payable by cheque) to Zion Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522).  Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave memories and condolences as a keepsake for the family.
