Toronto Wolfpack send Ryan Brierley out on loan to Leigh Centurions

TORONTO — The Toronto Wolfpack have sent Ryan Brierley to Leigh Centurions on an initial one-month loan.

The 27-year-old Brierley scored 133 tries in 125 games for the Centurions between 2012 and 2016 and stands fifth on the rugby league club's all-time scoring list.

The Scottish international has seen little playing time with Toronto this season with Josh McCrone and Blake Wallace starting at halfback.

"It's been a very frustrating and confusing time for myself, these last six months, but I'm now fully focused on playing to best of my ability for (coach) John Duffy and Leigh Centurions," Brierley told the Leigh website.

Brierley joined Leigh from Castleford Tigers in 2012. He was Championship Young Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014 before joining Huddersfield Giants in March 2016. He signed with Toronto in April 2017 during the Wolfpack's inaugural season.

Toronto, which tops the second-tier Betfred Championship standings at 10-1-0, returns home Sunday when it hosts 11th-place Swinton Lions (2-9-0) at Lamport Stadium.

Leigh (6-5-0) is sixth in the standings.
