Stampeders receiver DaVaris Daniels not likely to play in home-opener: coach

Calgary Stampeders receiver DaVaris Daniels isn't expected to play in Thursday's home-opener because of an apparent shoulder injury.

The CFL's rookie of the year in 2016 was injured in Friday's 31-31 tie with the Redblacks in Ottawa.

Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson said Monday that the 24-year-old wideout was "not likely" to be in the lineup for Thursday's rematch at McMahon Stadium.

Daniels didn't practice Monday, but watched from the sidelines in a T-shirt and shorts while sporting support tape on his right shoulder.

"His arm is actually going above his head," Dickenson said. "I don't necessarily feel he's going to be out for a long time."

Daniels had four catches for 90 yards in the season-opener. He had 51 catches for 885 yards and nine touchdowns in just 11 games in 2016.
