Canadian Rose LaBreche to referee Six Nations women's match in Italy

TORONTO — Canadian Rose LaBreche will referee the England-Italy Six Nations Women's rugby game in February.

The match is scheduled for Feb. 4 at the Stadio Mirabello in Reggio Emilia, Italy. LaBreche will also serve as an assistant referee for the Feb. 11 match between Ireland and Italy in Dublin.

The official from Markham, Ont., worked rugby sevens’ Olympic debut in Rio in 2016 and was an assistant referee at the 2017 Women's World Cup in Ireland, where she worked one of the semifinals.

She has also officiated on the HSBC Rugby Sevens World Series and has been appointed to work the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

In March, she was named Rugby Canada's match official of the year.
