Tourism Richmond touted for excellence

Tourism Richmond has been recognized for excellence by the BC tourism industry.

Destination British Columbia and the Tourism Industry Association of BC presented Tourism Richmond with the Destination Marketing Organization Professional Excellence Award at this week’s annual tourism conference in Victoria. The award recognizes a community destination marketing organization for commitment, marketing performance, accountability to and collaboration with BC’s tourism industry.

“While we’re accepting the award, winning this was only possible because of an approach we call ‘Team Richmond,’” said Nancy Small, chief executive officer of Tourism Richmond.

“Industry collaboration is fundamental to our shared success. Destination marketing organizations of all sizes bring together a range of partners and stakeholders to the table to facilitate new programs, policies and initiatives to grow the visitor economy. We’re often the very first and very last touchpoint in the customer journey.”

Last year, Tourism Richmond had a number of marketing initiatives, including a free tourist shuttle, a business trade show and a digital marketing strategy.

“We are dedicated to investing in our visitor economy, whether through innovative marketing campaigns, or developing new business opportunities for our stakeholders,” said Small. “We are honoured to accept this award and look forward to working with our partners and stakeholders to create exciting tourism opportunities for Richmond for 2020 and beyond.”
