Richmond School District receives provincial funding

Richmond School District has received more than $1.2 million in maintenance funding from the provincial government.

This year’s funding of $217.7 million across BC includes $12.2 million from CleanBC that provides resources through the Carbon Neutral Capital Program. The program aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy efficiency, saving money.

Examples of projects that might use this funding are solar panels, LED lighting and high efficiency boilers.

Through the Carbon Neutral Capital Program, McNair Secondary will receive a digital controls upgrade and Richmond Secondary will receive lighting upgrades. Cambie Secondary will receive mechanical system upgrades through the School Enhancement Program, which provides upgrades to roofing, washrooms, windows and more.

Thanks to the Building Envelope Program, Mitchell Elementary will receive upgrades to remediate water damage.
