Tickets can still be purchased for the NHL pre-season game between the Carolina Hurricanes and Buffalo Sabres taking place Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the Essar Centre.

Ticket holders are invited to watch the Carolina Hurricanes pre-game skate happening from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. To enter the arena, bring your ticket along with a non- perishable food item to be donated to St. Vincent Place.

Prior to the evening game, the City of Sault Ste. Marie will officially announce the opening of Ron Francis Way. The outdoor street ceremony is set for 5 p.m. at the lower part of Bruce Street between Queen and Bay streets.

With Francis in attendance for the game, this is an opportunity for Sault residents to welcome him home and show community pride and gratitude for his many accomplishments.

Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ron Francis has been an instrumental part of our city’s history in the sport of hockey. Francis has served as General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes since 2014.

Game time is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. – doors open at 6 p.m.
